5 Different Ways to Wear A Scarf: Part I

First of all, we’re excited to say that today marks Urban Mantra's one year anniversary! A whole year of our random musings and ramblings on all matters, big and small, documented on a blog. It's been a fun journey (not without its challenges though). Thank you to all our family, friends, and blogger friends who read this blog and support us (all 10 of them...okay, maybe 15).

Second of all, I’m half way through my shopping ban! January down, February to go. And thank god February is a short month. The idea behind today’s post is on how to maximize your closet. This is something we can all do, shopping ban or no shopping ban. In this two-part series, we’ll be focusing on the scarf. Yes, that small piece of cloth that you use to keep warm or to spice up an outfit. It’s a surprisingly versatile piece that often gets overlooked. Here’s our take on how you can wear it in simple yet fun ways:

1. Around your neck: So, the most obvious placement of a scarf is around your neck. But even with this traditional use, you can play around with different styles. Instead of just wrapping that scarf around your neck, how about adding a bit of interest to the look with a piece of jewelry? In the pictures below, I basically pulled the ends of my scarf through a statement ring (a brooch would work just as well). I’m a huge fan of Wendy’s Lookbook video which showcases 25 ways to wear a scarf so if you're looking for more ideas, check that video out.

2. Give your purse some love: How about taking that colorful scarf of yours and tying it around the handle of your purse? It’s a simple way to jazz up your bag as well as your look.
Tune in next week for our take on 3 other ways to wear a scarf. In the meantime, if you wish to join us on this self-imposed misery...I mean, shopping ban, visit this post by Tanvi from The Fabulous Life of Not-So-Rich and InFamous. Or you can just sit in the comfort of your home and snicker at us as you read about our painful exile from the shopping malls of America.
